IPOVista score

Balance sheet is the open question

63% of the scoring model was backed by disclosed data for Gabion Technologies, giving medium confidence. Weights for anything missing were redistributed rather than scored as zero.

Read this before the number

  • Leveraged balance sheet

Debt-to-equity of 2.1× leaves limited headroom if demand softens or rates rise.

  • SME platform listing

SME issues trade in larger lot sizes with thinner volumes than mainboard listings, which makes exiting a position harder.

The IPOVista Score is a transparent summary of disclosed fundamentals and issue terms. It is research, not investment advice, and it cannot predict listing performance.

The company

What the business actually does

Founded 2008 · New Delhi, Delhi, India (registered office: 38, S/F, Near MCD Park, Mohammadpur, New Delhi 110066) · 159 employees

Gabion Technologies India makes steel gabions — mechanically woven double-twisted hexagonal wire mesh baskets filled with rock — along with rockfall protection netting, rockfall barriers, reinforced geomat and high-strength flexible geogrids, at a five-line plant at Puruwala, Paonta Sahib, Himachal Pradesh. It also resells geosynthetics it does not manufacture (nonwoven geotextiles, PET geogrids, jute geotextile, coir mat, anchors, drainage pipes) and takes on works contracts, designing and building retaining walls, slope stabilisation by anchor-mesh system, river training, scour protection and ash-pond lining. Customers are road and railway authorities, power and mining PSUs, airports, defence and private contractors. Since 2008 it has completed 76 work contracts worth Rs 127.61 crore, 36 of them in roads and 12 in railways. Private-sector clients were 64.34% of FY25 revenue.

Three streams. In FY25 manufacturing earned Rs 57.24 crore (57.03% of revenue), works-contract and design services Rs 33.62 crore (33.50%), and trading of bought-in geosynthetics Rs 9.51 crore (9.47%). The input is steel wire — hot-dip galvanised, PVC-coated or zinc-aluminium (Galfan) coated — so margins track steel prices, and 68.07% of FY25 raw-material purchases came from Himachal Pradesh suppliers held under no long-term contract. The five gabion lines ran 8,488 MT of 9,200 MT available in FY25, leaving little headroom. The binding constraint is working capital rather than plant: net working capital need rose from Rs 12.32 crore (FY23) to Rs 47.24 crore at 30 November 2025, borrowings reached Rs 52.05 crore, and 84.50% of net issue proceeds was earmarked for working capital against 4.04% for plant and machinery.

Percentages are of paid-up equity, and the “after” column assumes the offer is fully subscribed, which is how the offer document states it. This record does not disclose a pre- and post-issue share count, so the part of the company actually changing hands is not split out — everyone who is not a promoter is shown together.

Subscription is hard exchange data. Grey-market premium is not — it is an unofficial quote, shown because readers want it and labelled because it deserves the label.

What an allotment is worth now, before costs

Work it out

What this means for one application

Three calculations, each stating the assumption it rests on.

What one application costs

Shares are applied for in whole lots at the cut-off price. The full amount is blocked in your bank account under ASBA, not debited, until allotment.

Lots
2 lots, 3200 shares, ₹2,59,200 blocked
Shares applied for
3,200
At cut-off price
₹81.00
Amount blocked
₹2,59,200

One lot is 1600 shares at ₹1,29,600. This issue requires a minimum of 2 lots, so the smallest application is ₹2,59,200. That is how the SME board is built rather than a quirk of this issue: the minimum application is set above the ₹2,00,000 that caps a retail bid on the mainboard — two lots rather than one. The smallest bid here still sits in the individual investors’ category, the one the subscription figures call retail, and when that category is oversubscribed the minimum application is allotted by draw of lots — so the odds beside this apply directly.

Odds of getting an allotment

When the retail category is oversubscribed, SEBI requires a lottery for the minimum lot. Every application has the same chance, whatever its size.

~0.1%

chance of one lot, per application

Retail subscription
867.23×
Applicants per share available
867.2× the retail quota

This is an estimate of a lottery, not a prediction. Actual odds depend on the final basis of allotment, how many applications were at the minimum lot, and rejections for technical reasons. Applying from multiple distinct PANs is the only legitimate way to hold more tickets in that lottery.

Our read

Easy to misread

Grounded only in figures disclosed in the prospectus. This is analysis, not a recommendation.

Easy to miss in the prospectus

  • The financials are restated CONSOLIDATED figures - the company has two foreign subsidiaries, Gabion Technologies BD Limited and Gabion Technology Nepal Private Limited. Standalone borrowings at 31 March 2025 were Rs 42.90 crore against the Rs 46.71 crore consolidated figure shown here.
  • FY25 revenue FELL 4.20% year on year (Rs 104.76 Cr to Rs 100.36 Cr) while EBITDA and PAT both rose. The profit growth is margin expansion on a shrinking top line, not volume growth - EBITDA margin went from 12.54% to 14.89%.

How these figures were checked

Reconciled to Gabion Technologies's own prospectus and to exchange disclosures, then cross-checked against 5 other independently published compilations of the same filing. Where a stated ratio disagreed with the line items it should come from, the disagreement was settled against the prospectus itself.

The prospectus is the authoritative document. Check anything that matters against it before you act.
